PRIORITIES
Crime and Safety
When it comes to crime and safety, I believe in striking a balance between holding people who break the law accountable for their actions and working to prevent crime in the first place. We cannot only be tough on crime, we must be smart about it. As your next legislator I will advocate to:
Increase police presence in high-crime areas.
Fund the overrun courts for the work they do, to more quickly bring justice and accountability.
Provide more robust infrastructure for mental health and drug treatment programs in Rio Rancho.
Support diversion and reentry programs to stop repeat offenders.
Education
As a mother and as a graduate of our public schools, I care deeply about each child’s success- from Pre-K all the way through college. Growing up, school was the place where I received an education and got nutrition for the day and as an adult, I’m dedicated to making sure every student has what they need to succeed. As your next legislator, I will advocate for:
Continued support for Pre-K programs to help young learners and parents of young children.
Smaller class sizes to ensure students’ needs are met and educators can do their jobs.
School-based wrap-around services including mental health support, and food and clothing banks.
More robust career and technical education courses to help all students see themselves in a career- whether that’s college or the trades.
Healthcare
My husband has faithfully served our nation in the military for over 12 years, but when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, we had to go out of state to get the care he needed- which also came with big bills, despite his service. For generations, New Mexicans have lacked sufficient healthcare and it’s time we change that. For me, this fight is personal. As your next Representative, I will fight tirelessly to:
Attract and retain more medical professionals.
Increase healthcare transparency and lower the cost of prescription drugs.
Safeguard abortion access and our reproductive freedom.
Economy
The families of our district look a lot like mine—people who work hard to realize their dreams. The dream of owning a home they can afford, the dream of a good paying job, and the dream of economic security to pass on to their children. Dreams like these are part of why I earned my degree in finance- to help everyday people invest in their families.
But while working in finance, I noticed that these dreams are farther away for some people than others—that the playing field was not even. That’s why as your next state representative, I’ll fight to:
Invest in, and build more affordable housing.
Provide down payment assistance.
Support Paid Family and Medical Leave.
Create a pipeline to the middle class through apprenticeship programs in the trades.
